JDRF leads the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D) by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for Canadians impacted by T1D. In hosting community fundraising events such as rides and walks, JDRF Canada aims to support projects targeting three basic areas in regards to the disease: cure, treat and prevent. This reflects their ultimate goal to progressively remove the burden of T1D and achieve a world without T1D.
Acting as a Marketing and Communications Assistant at JDRF Canada, I designed promotional digital and print material with various Adobe products while adhering to company style guides and branding. I coordinated with community engagement, major gifts, fundraising, and finance departments to brainstorm the best approach to projects and execute optimal design while prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additionally, I managed social media and content scheduling, while problem-solving the best strategies to convey JDRF’s desired message to increase audience knowledge of diabetes and encourage donations to research funds. Lastly, I developed marketing materials to optimize participation in community events.

ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Printable posters designed to encourage the JDRF community to vote for political campaigns mindful of T1D care accessibility.
DIGITAL ADVERTISEMENTS
Created digital ads to be displayed in mall directories to locally promote the JDRF Ride event. Updated previous year’s advertisement to be displayed on Eaton Centre digital billboards.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT POSTERS
Posters designed to promote JDRF’s Talk T1D and Bag of Hope programs.
ADVOCACY TOOL KIT
A booklet to encourage the JDRF community to help advocate for private insurance coverage.
SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNEL MANAGEMENT
Created content, wrote copy, scheduled posts, and managed the JDRF Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social media accounts with approximately 37,000 followers cumulatively. Conceptualized strategies to increase audience engagement, including quizzes to raise awareness of T1D.
